Can you be on welfare and file bankruptcy?
I am struggling with debt and am wondering is it possible to file for bankruptcy if you are on welfare in Canada?
Yes, it is possible to file for bankruptcy in Canada if you are on welfare.
However, if you are on welfare you may be judgment proof. If this is the case it means that you do not have to file bankruptcy in order to have protection from your creditors:
A term to describe assets protected from being seized by a creditor. i.e. assets a creditor cannot seize by going to court and getting a judgement.
