How to handle an inheritance that happened during a bankruptcy? How to handle an inheritance that happened during a bankruptcy?

Hi, we were in a bankruptcy when a relative passed away and left a portion of their home to us (split between other family members).

When the relative passed away their home was rented out as they were in a care home.

The house was then put up for sale a year or so later and recently sold (all after us being discharged from bankruptcy).

How do we handle this or what are we to do now (we have not received any funds yet from the sale as it’s all still in probate)?

When you went into bankruptcy the trustee would have asked if you were expecting an inheritance.

When you swore your oath and signed the document you were swearing an oath regarding your inheritance as well as acknowledging you were filing bankruptcy.

The inheritance belongs to the trustee for the benefit of the creditors.
