I was not advised of garnishment until I received my pay stub
I had no contact with the person garnisheeing my wages until I received my pay stub. My employer gave me the paperwork after I asked for it. I am contemplating bankruptcy, the total amount of garnishment is $150,000. It is ridiculous to garnishee this amount from me as the original loan was for 74 thousand. I had no contact with these people for 5 years. Thanks in advance.
A bankruptcy will stop the garnishee of your wages and the debt will be written off when you’re discharged.
You should see a trustee as soon as possible and of course, let him know when your next payday is so he can work to get the bankruptcy in place before any more money is taken from your paycheque.
